Apple pastry for breakfast

  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry dough, thawed
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1.5 pounds Honeycrisp apples
  1. Core and peel apples, chop apples into cubes. Cut 1/3 of apple to small cubes of 1/4 inch size, and the rest to cubes of 1/2 inch

  2. Place big cubes into the pan, add sugar, lemon juice. Cook for 30 minutes

  3. Add smaller cubes and cook for 5 more minutes. This will be the filling

  4. Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees (F)

  5. Flour the counter, roll out puff pastry till it is approx. 12” by 7” 

  6. Place the pastry to the floured baking tray sprinkled with oil

  7. Pour the filling over to the pastry and then fold the dough in half. Seal the edges, crimp the edges with fork, make some holes for ventilation

  8. Prepare the egg wash: crack the egg, swirl on medium for 1 minute

  9. Brush the pastry surface with the egg wash

  10. Bake for 35 minutes
