Being a traditional Mexican dish a taco is made of corn usually though there are wheat tortillas which are served with a filling. The taco can be folded or rolled. It is so convenient way to eat meat, fish, veggies and chees with your hands. You can make them nutritious, hearty or light and dietary – everything depends on filling and your preferences. As an accompaniment you can use almost any foods: the grilled peppers are good, lime or lemon slices, and even simple cucumber slices.
Taco Dinner Recipes: with Steak and Pineapple
When you want to prepare some Mexican meal, consider one of the taco dinner recipes. Almost any food is better when it's arranged in a taco format. You can bake it at home or buy the ready ones at the store. Cook the dish for table or a snack. We offer you a version with steak and pineapples.
For the tacos
- 2 tbsp jerk seasoning
- 2 tbsp canola oil
- 1.5 pounds steak
- 10 piece flour tortillas
- 1 cup pineapple
- 1/2 cup onion
- 1/4 cup cilantro
- 1/2 lime
- 1/4 tbsp salt
- 1 avocado
For the jerk seasoning
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp blend seasoning
- 2 tsp sugar
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp red pepper
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp paprika (smoked)
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp powder made of onion
- 1 tsp allspice
Start with preparing jerk seasoning. Take a bowl and put into it all the ingredients mentioned in the list. Mix them thoroughly to combine. Also you can buy the ready jerk seasoning at the store and refuse homemade version. In this case, begin with the next step.
Take a small bowl, add jerk seasoning and ¼ cup oil to it, whisk together.
Take a large plastic bag, pour the above mixture into it and add the steak.
Make the bag sealed and shake gently in order the steak gets coated with the marinade.
Put the bag with meat to the refrigerator for an hour as a minimum, but it would be better if the steak is marinated during 24 hours.
Take a large skillet, pour the remaining oil and put it over the medium heat.
Transfer the steak from the bag to the skillet and cook during 16 minutes. Do not forget to turn it. The meat should be well done on the top and slightly pink inside.
Remove the meat from the heat and set aside for 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, add the pineapple, lime juice, onion, salt, and cilantro to a new small bowl.
Now the cooled steak should be sliced across the grain.
Take tortillas, put the pieces of meat on them, add a spoon of pineapple salsa and top with avocado.
If you want, you can add cotija cheese and lime wedges when serving. This is a really tasty and very beautiful dish with those yellow pineapple dices and green avocado slices. It is rather spicy due to jerk seasoning but this is its key moment.
