The technique is very simple and you will love the flavorful end result. Jiggs are basically pork and vegetables cook until perfection. You can use the time for yourself until jiggs are cooking.

Gordon Ramsay cooked Jiggs and he said you can use a separate pot for vegetables if yours isn’t big enough. Just bring the vegetables to boil and simmer for 15 minutes until they are very soft but not mushy. If the veggies are hard, you can finish them in the microwave. You can leave them as-is, if you like an extra crunch.

Jiggs is one of the easiest autumn dinner recipes that everyone can make. Throw all ingredients in the pot, fill it with water and wait until everything is cooked. That's it! The technique couldn't be any easier, and you will get a delicious meal in 25 minutes. It's always tastes delicious and children love it, too.

  • 2 pieces beef or pork
  • 6 potatoes
  • 1 cabbage
  • 1 turnip
  • 6 carrots
  • 1 onion
  • 1/2 bag yellow peas
  • 2 parsnips
  • 5 ml pepper
  • 15 ml butter


  1. If you meal prep the recipe, soak beef overnight in salty, cold water and then boil it for 30 minutes. If you don't have time, soak it in salty water for 30 minutes. Boil it for 30 minutes, drain the water. Add fresh, cold water to the meat. Bring to boil and add 1 onion.

  2. Pour ½ bag peas in a bag and tie the top. If you meal prep the recipe, soak the peas overnight in salty water. If not, boil them in fresh water for 30 minutes or until tender. If peas aren't soft enough, cook them for 10 minutes in a microwave.

  3. Add cabbage, carrots and turnip to the meat and boil for 15 minutes. Add parsnip and potatoes. Boil for 15 minutes. Potatoes should become tender.

  4. When the beef and vegetables are cooked, add the peas. Add oil and pepper to taste. Add chili if you prefer spicy foods.

  5. Remove the vegetables and beef from the pot, put them in separate bowls and serve hot.
