rice porridge

What do Chinese people eat for breakfast? International cuisines could be a great source of inspiration if you are tired from the ordinary and ready to try something new.

Most common comfort Chinese breakfast includes congee, a cross between porridge and soup, made from overcooked rice almost disintegrated into a puree form with some toppings of choice. Congee can be consumed throughout the days as a lunch and dinner meal too. It is easy to digest due to its pudding-like form which makes it a perfect choice for the young and elderly and is very nutritious as it sometimes made on a chicken broth.

The final consistency and flavor varies greatly depending on cooking times and personal tastes. Actually, you could top it with virtually anything: chicken broth, chicken bones, pork or even turkey depending on what you’ve got at home.
