You can buy the mixed dough that needs just to be baked. But you’ll appreciate the flaky rolls made at home.
This recipe is intended for those who love baking and like light-textured soft rolls. They are the combination of the common ingredients and resemble something from childhood – you cannot forget that outstanding flavor. If you do not mind of simple food, let’s start.
Best Homemade Dinner Rolls Recipes
If you want to impress your family or even guests asked for dinner, bake rolls for them. This is a simple dish made of whole-wheat flour. When you cook them, the smell will spread all over the flat evoking appetite. It is almost impossible to resist temptation.
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 large eggs (being of room temperature)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 4 cups white flour
- 2.25 tsp instant dry yeast
To start with, take a bowl and add the warm milk, softened butter, and yeast in it. These two conditions are very important: the milk must be warm and the butter must be soft. In order to meet them you can combine milk and butter in a cup and place it into the microwave, switch on and heat during about 50 seconds. So, you’ve got it! But here is a danger: prevent milk to become hot otherwise it cannot come with yeast. To test the temperature use a cooking thermometer – it should be somewhere about 100°F but not more than 115°F.
Now take fresh yeast and add it to the warm milk and let it sit during about 5 minutes. It should activate. Though if you prefer, you can use instant yeast.
Stir in flour, salt, eggs, and sugar.
Combine the components for a few seconds using a mixer, apply the paddle attachment. Set it aside for sitting during 5 minutes. This time is needed to soak all the dry ingredients thoroughly.
Now apply a dough hook for mixing the combined components for 10 minutes on medium speed. You should get a little bit slightly sticky dough but it does not mean that you should add some flour – do not do it. Please do not be tempted to add more flour.
Take a large bowl, grease it and transfer the dough to it. Cover the bowl with a wrapper or towel and set aside for half an hour. The dough should rise and increase twice.
Now it is ready for baking. Put the dough on a cutting board, divide it into 15 balls.
Take a baking pan, grease it and put the balls into it, cover the pan and set aside for 15 minutes somewhere in a warm place.
Put it to the oven and bake at 375 degrees during 15 minutes. You should keep the rolls under control preventing them from overcooking.
When they get slightly golden take them out and you can serve them.
They are tasty with fresh butter, jam, honey.
By the way when you are expected to mix the components with a mixer, it does not mean that you cannot do it by hand. But here the desire to add flour can appear as far as the dough stick to fingers whey you knead it by hand. That’s the point! It should be sticky. If you have a breadmaker, you are welcome – use it!
