The marinade uses savory and sweet ingredients for even more diverse and rich flavor. I usually marinate the steaks for 4 hours, but I think 2 hours should be enough to tenderize the meat. Of course, you can marinate them overnight. Be sure to pat the steaks dry before you cook them to get a nice sauce on top.

I usually cook my steaks on a grill but you can use a grill pan. The steaks are always unbelievable. I just love the juicy meat taste with the rich sauce and a very light salad. Margarita is the best for me, so I really urge you to try this recipe and share your opinion.

Best Grilled Margarita Steak

These margarita steaks are very easy to make and they taste amazing. With very tender top sirloin, you don't have to marinate them to make the meat tender. Just let them sit in the fridge long enough to impart the flavors of the marinade. Serve over rice or roasted vegetables.

Ingredients

  • 2 steaks 8 oz
  • 1 red pepper
  • 1 sweet onion
  • 1 yellow pepper
  • 125 ml tequila
  • 1 lime
  • 1/2 orange
  • 60 ml cilantro, chopped
  • 60 ml vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jalapeño, chopped
  • 15 ml sugar
  • 10 ml salt
  • 4 tortillas
  • 100 g guacamole

Instructions

  1. Heat your grill to high heat. Slice the peppers and the onion and place them in the center of foil. 

  2. Squeeze lime juice and the orange juice into a bowl.

  3. Add the sugar, salt, jalapeno, garlic, cilantro, tequila and oil to the juices. Whisk everything together to combine. Pour ¼ marinade over the vegetables. Fold the foil. Make sure it has no holes.

  4. Place the steaks in a bag and pour the marinade on them. Let the steaks marinate for 20 minutes. Turn the grill burners to low, place the foil on the side. Close the grill lid. Pepper and onions will be nice and soft.

  5. When 20 minutes are done, remove the steaks from the marinade and place them on the other side of the grill. Cook for 2-5 minutes. Flip the steaks to the other side and move them to the other part of the grill. Cook at 135F for medium rare and 150F for medium. Check the readiness with a toothpick.

  6. Remove the steaks and the vegetables from the grill. Let the meat rest for 10 minutes, Slice and serve the meat with vegetables and your favorite sauce.
